Rubberband Man

"Guaranteed to blow your mind, so high you won't come down..."

Continuing their journey of exploration, GTXR introduced their second rocket, Rubber Band-Man, which took flight at the FAR launch complex in Mojave, CA in 2021. This rocket was a testament to the team's commitment to hands-on learning and innovation, as it utilized SRAD (Student Researched and Developed) solid rocket motors. Rubber Band-Man, like its predecessor, achieved a successful hot staging and sustainer ignition. With a soaring apogee of 16,000 ft, the rocket showcased GTXR's ability to reach impressive altitudes. However, during the sustainer burn phase, the team encountered a structural failure, highlighting the complexities involved in rocket design and flight. Despite this setback, GTXR embraced the opportunity to learn and improve, drawing invaluable lessons from the experience. Their dedication and resilience in the face of challenges serve as a testament to their unwavering pursuit of engineering excellence and their unwavering determination to reach new heights in the field of rocketry.
