GTXR's fourth rocket, Material Girl, launched from the FAR launch complex in Mojave, CA on July 8th, 2023. Powered by two P-class SRAD (Student Researched and Developed) solid rocket motors, she utilized design and manufacturing improvements gained from our experience with Mr. Blue Sky to reach higher altitudes and achieve Q-class total impulse. Material Girl was simulated to reach an apogee of 220,000 feet, although due to issues with staging, her nosecone deployed immediately, and hot-staging began at takeoff. Due to these issues, Material Girl reached an apogee of 30,000 feet, attesting to GTXR's propulsive capabilities in spite of our avionics setbacks.
