Fire on High

It's going to fly up, up, and away...

Fire on High was a single-stage sounding rocket designed and flown during the 2023-2024 academic year. Weighing a total of 208 lbs and spanning 146 inches in length, the vehicle was made with the objective of testing novel propulsion and aerostructures concepts to enable future GTXR missions.

The vehicle featured GTXR's first flight of an 8-inch SRAD P-class motor, a novel fin architecture, and recovery systems for the airframe body and nose cone. Flight events were designed to be controlled by a COTS avionics flight computer, with a suite of passive COTS avionics systems for backup telemetry and recovery.
